10/19/2022 - November 8, 2022 Election Information
Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The polling place for Bethany is Town Hall, 40 Peck Road, and will be open for in-person voting from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If you are unable to come to the polls that day, an absentee ballot may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s office prior to November 8th.
Voting will be for Governor, Lt. Governor, U.S. Senator, Representative in Congress, State Senate, State Representative, Secretary of the State, Treasurer, Comptroller, Attorney General, Judge of Probate and Registrar of Voters.  There is also a state constitutional question on the ballot.  Bethany’s sample ballot and explanatory text for the question is available here: bethany-ct.com/election-information
Applications for Absentee Ballots are available in the Town Clerk’s office or on the Secretary of the State’s website: myvote.ct.gov/absentee.  The applications can be returned in-person, by mail, placed in the drop box outside of Town Hall, or online at the Secretary of the State's website.
Absentee Ballots may be issued either in-person or by mail. For your ballot to be counted, it needs to be received at Town Hall by 8:00 PM on Election Day, November 8, 2022. You can either mail or drop your ballot in the secure drop box next to the flagpole outside the main entrance to Town Hall. Please allow enough time for ballots to reach us by mail or utilize the drop box if uncertain.
Many people have received an unsolicited absentee ballot application from one of the campaigns or political parties.  This is allowed by state law as long as the organizers submit a log to Clerk’s office.  You are not required to vote absentee if you receive these – you may still vote in person if you wish.  Please note that absentees are a 2-step process – application, then ballot.  Parties are only allowed to send applications – ballots must come directly from the Town Clerk.
The Registrars of Voters will hold the final regular voter registration session on November 1, 2022 between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM at Town Hall.  After that date, the only way to register and vote is to appear in person at the Election Day Registration location at Town Hall on November 8, 2022 between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
For any questions about voter registration, please contact the Registrar of Voters at 203-393-2100 x1121 or registrar@bethany-ct.com and any questions about absentee ballot applications please contact the Town Clerk’s office at 202-393-2100 x 1104 or WLBrinton@bethany-ct.com.
