The Board of Selectmen appointed a seven-member Town Code Review Committee on March 5, 2024, to study and recommend potential code changes.  Certain amendments were proposed for the May 20, 2024, Annual Town Meeting while others require further investigation and may be presented at future town meetings.

The committee met several times during the fall of 2024 and winter 2025 to discuss posssible code amendments.  On January 21, 2025, the committee voted to recommend seven revised chapters to the Board of Selectmen for their consideration.  Subsequently, at a meeting on March 18, 2025, the committee voted to recommend an additional five revisions.  The Selectmen, Town Attorney and residents were given the opportunity to review and comment on the proposals by emailing townclerk@bethany-ct.com or calling 203-393-2100 x1104.

The Board of Selectmen voted at their meeting on May 6, 2025 to place the following 10 code amendments on the call of the May 19, 2025 Annual Town Meeting:
