November 19, 2020:

Included below are the color-coded COVID-19 alert maps in this week’s update along with last week’s to show how quickly things have changed. As shown on the map (top) below, our rate has gone up to 24.8 per the State calculation based on 100,000 population.  Unfortunately, we now join all of our neighbors in the Red category. This rate was calculated on the period covering Nov. 1 – Nov. 14.  Remember, there will always be the overlap of one week to make any corrections to the data.

It was predicted that there would be a spike in numbers in the Fall.  We need to break the upward trend.  This has been a substantial jump this past week.

Please carefully consider the places you go and the number of people who could be there.  It is for your safety and those around you.  The Department of Public Health reports that the transmission of the virus is originating primarily as a result of activities outside of our “bubble” and/or not wearing a mask, not maintaining the appropriate social distancing and not doing regular handwashing.

We are all in this together, and it is up to all of us to do the right thing.  Once again, for your safety, and the safety of all of those around you, please follow the guidelines and protocols.

We will continue the weekly updates on Fridays so that we can provide the most up-to-date information which is issued by the State on Thursday evenings.  The weekly COVID-19 updates will be posted via the Town website and Town Facebook page at this time.

For more information you can go to the State website:

A reminder: All data reported is preliminary and changes daily; data is updated as new reports are received and data errors are corrected.

As always – We are a community together, even when apart!
We are Bethany strong!
Please be kind!
Thank you and please stay safe!
