5/22/2025 - Notice of Town Code updates 5/19/2025

LEGAL NOTICE
TOWN OF BETHANY

In accordance with CT General Statute Section 7-157(a), notice is hereby given that at a duly noticed Town Meeting held on May 19, 2025, the following amendments to the Town Code were approved:

1. Chapter 20. Conservation Commission. Change appointment authority to Board of Selectmen & alternate terms to 3 years.
2. Chapter 28. Economic Development Commission. Change appointment authority to Board of Selectmen.
3. Chapter 63-4. Planning & Zoning Commission. Absence; resignation; vacancies. Delete authority to remove members due to absence for 3 consecutive meetings & change vacancy appointment term to until next town election.
4. Chapter 95. Zoning Enforcement Officer. Update appointment authority & duties.
5. Chapter 97. Zoning Board of Appeals. Change appointment authority for vacancies to the remaining members of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
6. Chapter 102. Alarms. Remove registration requirement, update language & penalties.
7. Chapter 114. Building Construction. Remove references to Building Commission.
8. Chapter 170. Sewage Disposal. Remove references to Town Sanitarian & fees.
9. Chapter 200. Wells. Add reference to Health Department.

The full text of each chapter is available at the Town Clerk’s office for public inspection. The approved ordinances shall become effective fifteen days after publication.
