The Human Services Department ensures that health and human services are provided, available, and accessible to all residents of the town of Bethany. As a town agency, the department is responsible for assessing community needs, promoting public knowledge and understanding of identified needs, and stimulating community responses to those needs.

The Fuel Assistance Program 

FREE TAX PREPARATION – VITA Offers Virtual Tax Assistance & Other Resources  

Although VITA sites are not able to offer in-person tax assistance this 2019 tax season, VITA is pleased to offer the following information to those they serve, those who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Both the IRS and the State of CT have extended the tax filing deadline till July 15, 2020.

FREE TAX PREPARATION is also available courtesy of AARP volunteers. No income restriction. AARP membership is not required. Our AARP site is at the Seymour Senior Center located at 20 Pine Street in Seymour. Must call for an appointment 203-888-2507. Service in Seymour available only on Thursdays from February 6-April 9.  9 AM-1 PM.  03/20/2020 – CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Filing Deadline is July 15, 2020.

Just a reminder:  There is no Senior Bus Service on weekends, or on holidays that fall on Monday, Wednesday or Friday, or if Amity School District is closed due to inclement weather.

Do you offer home visits?

Home visits are available to Bethany residents who temporarily or permanently, cannot come to the Town Hall to apply for programs.

Do you offer transportation?

The Town of Bethany provides transportation to seniors for shopping and medical appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Contact:

for schedule and reservations. The bus is equipped to handle wheel chair dependent passengers.
